Our Voyage:

Waves of Change at COP28

Following the unanimous adoption of Resolution 77/276 calling for an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice to clarify states obligations with regards to climate change; a series of deadlines have been set by the Court to receive submissions from states.

As we get closer to the first deadline, 22 January 2024, PISFCC recognises the importance of the ICJAO Campaign to be expressly present at the 28th Conference of the Parties. COP28 provides the perfect platform for the amplification of our messages to those present, which is to encourage states to participate in this particular advisory proceeding, as well as to encourage CSOs and youths to advocate for the inclusion of their voices in their respective state submissions.

Events

Global Youth
Reception

The global youth reception will once again bring together young people from all around the world.

With the theme of Dou Lako Vata, which is a Fijian phrase meaning let’s journey together, we wish to reiterate the fact that progression of climate justice, can only be attained by working together.

Join us for an opportunity to:

  • learn about the ICJAO Campaign and how you can contribute to this upcoming historic advisory proceeding;

  • be more aware of the importance and benefits of our Youth Climate Justice Handbook.

The Witness Stand

The Witness Stand will collect from individuals, aiming to serve as a storytelling platform for impactful messages regarding the climate crisis.

Participants are to respond to the prompt, 'What is your message to the International Court of Justice for the current advisory opinion on climate change?'.

The project prioritizes diverse voices, including children, young people, women, persons with disabilities, leaders, activists, and the elderly, with an emphasis on regional representation.
